Trebes is one of the closest villages to the famous city of Carcassonne and is famous in it's own right as one of the Canal du Midi's ports. It is a genuine picture postcard area with beautiful Canal, tow paths, the Aude River, vineyards, and the village is full of life with restaurants, bars and all the local shops. The village does of course produce it's own lovely wine that you can buy direct from the 'cave'.

This pretty cottage is perfect for a holiday in the South of France. It is situated in the old part of the village of Trebes and is a traditional wine worker's cottage. The front door leads you in to the main living area with it's kitchen (oven, hob, dishwasher etc.), dining area and open fire place. You walk through into another area with the fridge, hoover, iron and board which then leads onto the shower room. Go up the stairs and you'll arrive at a sitting area with a comfy sofa where you can relax whilst reading a book or watching French television and rubbing up on your knowledge of the language. From there, you enter a large double bedroom area with dbl bed and built in cupboards. We also offer long out of season economy lets to off season travellers and house hunters.

Places of Interest

The World heritage site 'The Canal du Midi' runs through the village and you can either rent a boat for yourself or spend your time watching the many fine craft passing along the waterways. This is the perfect area to take lots of lovely, long walks or to hire bicycles and ride in between the vines. A brief car ride will take you into the Medieval City of Carcassonne, another of the World heritage sites. This beautiful fortified city has seen centuries of battles and now passes it's retirement being honoured by the visitors who come from all corners of the Globe to marvel at the sites and learn of the history of the great Cathar knights! This is one of the most celebrated wine regions in France and you should not miss the chance to taste some of the exceptional offerings from the many wine producers. The area is flooded with many ancient Chateaux and Abbeys. You will walk into them and get lost in the world of the 13th Century. Just 10mins from the cottage is the lovely Lac de la Cavayare where you can swim, sunbathe, hire pedalos, play crazy golf, play beach volley ball or enjoy a walk around the lake in the wonderful countryside. You can also be on the sandy beaches of Narbonne in 45mins and of course in the winter months you can go skiing in the Pyrennees. White water rafting is available for those more adventurous types. From May to October the whole of the Aude comes alive with concerts, wine launches, local village fetes, fireworks displays etc. etc. Once the French get going, there's no stopping them.
