La Celeste is situated on a winding country lane leading out of the village of Marseillette, Located in the Etang de Marseillette it is ideally situated for walking, fishing cycling and jogging through the quiet picturesque surroundings. The area has the distinction of having the famous Canal du Midi (now listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site) running through one side of the village. The house is within walking distance of the village where you will find a restaurant and friendly bar. Nearby in Trèbe, there are numerous shops, 2 supermarkets and a tourist office. Several restaurants situated on the banks of the Canal offer an ideal place to relax and watch the boats. The fabulous medieval city of Carcassonne, which is the only fortified town in Europe still inhabited, is 17km away. Here you can relive 2500 years of history.

Description of Property

This house is particularly ideal for two families, couples or groups holidaying together but also able to enjoy their own space and privacy, as the house can be self contained on both levels. Downstairs the entrance is through a conservatory, which leads into a large Summer kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and a dining table and chairs, a lounge area with French TV, CD/radio and access to a terrace overlooking vineyards, with dining table and 8 chairs. On the same level is a bathroom with shower and wc, one double bedroom and one twin. Upstairs is a second large kitchen with fabulous views, electric oven and grill, fridge /freezer and dining table with and chairs. There is a large comfortable lounge with satelliteTV, DVD and CD player and doors with access to balcony overlooking the vineyards, one double bedroom also with opening onto the balcony and one twin room with mountain views, plus bathroom with shower, and a separate wc. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxing or dining outside. There is a terrace area with private pool, 8 sunloungers and parasols, a barbecue,dining table and 8 chairs. At the rear of the house with views over the Etang is a second large terrace with dining table and 8 chairs. There is also a large grassed area at one end of the house suitable for ball games.

Places of Interest

There are weekly markets in the villages around Marseillette. A very short walk from the house is the UNESCO protected Canal du Midi, with its many locks and miles of towpaths to wander, under the shade of the plane trees which line its banks. Local activities include riding stables, tennis courts and hiking or cycling routes. Lakes Jouarre and Cavayère have supervised swimming and hire of sailboards and kayaks. The medieval city of Carcassonne is about fifteen minutes by car, offering shops, restaurants, a golf course and an abundance of entertainment. Not forgetting, most famously the medieval walled city and Cathare Châteaux. The Mediterranean beaches of Gruissan, Leucates and Narbonne are about forty minutes by car and just over an hour to Perpignan and the Spanish border. The nearest ski resorts are approximately an hour and a half to Andorra and the Pyrenees mountains. The surrounding area is a varied and beautiful place to visit with its many mountains, valleys, gorges, lakes and historical villages.
