Stunning Gite Complex for Sale

Property Location

Mas de Puech Long is part of the picture postcard village of Calvisson. Calvisson has existed since at least Roman times, and was once known as the capital of the Vaunage. You could spend a day exploring this beautiful plane tree-filled village. One of the most special things about our property is its location. It is off all main roads, and is exceptionally tranquil and with a sky full of stars at night. Yet, you can be in several villages in 5 to 10 minutes, at the Mediterranean in less than half an hour, in Nîme in 20 minutes, and in Montpellier in 25 to 30 minutes. Beyond our 30 acres, we are surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of community-owned land that is protected from development, and also lots and lots of vineyards. Mas de Puech Long is a working farm, as well. We breed miniature horses, and have full-size trail horses and ponies on-site. We also have a huge organic orchard, vegetable and herb garden, and organic egg-laying chickens. We have a huge field of red poppies, lavendar, and sunflowers, too. We offer a level of quality and services that are a bit rare in the Languedoc.

Description of Property

We offer 5 B&B and 5 self-catering accommodations at Mas de Puech Long. The B&B accommodations are all one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a rolltop clawfoot bathtub, and a separate w.c. For self-catering accommodations, we have a studio, a one bedroom, a two bedroom plus sleeping loft, a three bedroom, and a three bedroom plus sleeping loft. All linens are included, even spa robes and beach towels. All of our accommodations are nicely furnished and decorated with the help of a professional decorator. Each accommodation features the work of a particular artist. These artists sometimes agree to come to the mas for a guest artist class, too.

Places of Interest

The Mediterranean beaches are an easy twenty to thirty minute drive away, and there are several to choose from. We can tell you which beach to go to for what. Nîmes, Arles, Montpellier, and Lunel all have Roman-related sites. Nîmes has its arena with the famous bullfights three times a year. Nearby Sommičres has a medieval festival the last weekend of April that is not to be missed, and small enough that you can really take part. Rent a costume, and attend the medieval dinner! There is the Jazz ŕ Junas festival in June. You can sometimes hear the jazz music from the mas. Avignon is a reasonable 45 minute drive, and is always fun to visit, but especially in July when they have the Avignon Festival with music and theater performances in the streets all over town all day everyday. The Pont du Gard is very popular with our visitors, and has a great childrens museum as part of the already nice visitor center now. The Haribo candy factory and museum is very popular with kids of all ages - the samples you get at the end are maybe one reason. Calvisson, Sommičres, Lunel, Nîmes, and almost all of the other villages and villes around have great open-air markets once or twice a week that are great fun to go to. For antique or brocante lovers, there are regular flea markets, professionals-only sales (I can get you in!), and village-wide vide-greniers (this literally means empty attic, and is much like a giant boot sale or garage sale - French style). Marseille is an easy daytrip, as is Aix-en-Provence, St. Rémy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence, and even Carcassonne. It would take several weeks to do everything there is to do around here, and I did not even mention fishing and relaxing by the heated pool.
