Situated in the beautiful Rotja valley famous for its apple and peach orchards, and lying adjacent to Mt. Canigou (2,784m), Sahorre offers visitors a friendly welcome to this thriving village of 300 people and is an ideal base for exploring or just relaxing. Sahorre has a Butchers/Presse/Tabac, Boulangerie, General Store, Cave with local wine/honey/apple juice and adjoining Pottery - for that important gift, Post Office, Mining Museum - all within walking distance of the apartment.

The apartment is on the ground floor of a detached house, providing easy access with no steps, it has its own entrance and ample secure off road parking. Living Area: Sitting room area with TV, CD/Tape player. French windows leading to a covered terrace for that relaxing breakfast or evening dining. Kitchen/dining area - Fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker and microwave.Utility room equipped with Fridge, Washing machine, iron and board. Bedrooms: 3 bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin) All bedrooms equipped with wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps. One double room with basin. (twin room leads off from this room.) Bed linen provided. Bathroom: Shower room with wash basin and bidet, separate WC Towels provided Outdoor Area: Adjoining the covered terrace, a lawned garden with Mullberry trees offering shade. Garden table, chairs, sunshade for alfresco dining and loungers are provided. There is a large barbecue for the exclusive use for the visitors. The house is south facing so enjoys the sunshine from the moment it rises over the mountain until it sets behind another. Electric radiators are fitted in all rooms. The British owners who live full time at the house can offer help and information about the area and places to visit. The owners have their own separate entrance and part of the garden ensuring privacy for their visitors. Smoking in not permitted in the apartment, as the next visitors may be Non-smokers. Cat friendly visitor’s needed – the owners have three cats (no dogs allowed).

Places of Interest

A 5 min. drive takes you to the small beautiful Spa town of Vernet-les-Bains which provides a local supermarket, Thermal Baths (take a cure!), Casino, Night Club, Pharmacy, Doctors, Restaurants, Equestrian centre, public swimming baths, and 3 market mornings a week selling locally produced produce. Within a 10 min. drive, visitors can visit Villefranche, an 11c-15c fortified village with its numerous shops and restaurants, or catch ‘Le Petit Jeune’ (Little Yellow Train) and ride up the Tet valley through spectacular gorges to Mont Louis and the high plain of the Cerdagne and Capcir. A 15 min. drive takes you to Prades (famous for its Pablo Casals music festival) with its large weekly market offering a wide range of goods – a typical French market. Visit the hilltop abbeys of St. Martin and Serrabonne or swim or windsurf in the lake at Vinca. Further a field (40 mins. to 1½hrs.) the regions historic capitol – Perpignan awaits with its beautiful pink marble pavements, cloistered shopping and summer festival events (Thursday evenings). The Mediterranean beaches of Canet, St-Cyprien and Argeles. The picturesque fishing villages of the Cote Vermillion such as Banyuls and Collioure attract artists, the fish market of Porte Vendres which offers numerous quayside restaurants – enjoy a ‘fruits de mer’. Visit Spain (Costa Brava – Gerona – Barcelona), the Dahli museum or drive to Andorre for its tax-free bargin shopping for designer clothes and electrical goods. The area holds many more attractions, including water parks, mounting walking, fishing for brown trout in mountain rivers, horse riding, walking, cycling, 4x4 trips up the Canigou; as well as many other secret places and drives for visitors to discover.
