Situated on a hilltop above the 13th century village of Ajat with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The airports of Bergerac, Limoges and Bordeaux are within easy reach. Visit the medieval towns and villages of the Dordogne. We are near many world famous pre-historic sites and chateaux, including the Lascaux caves. There is an array of restaurants in the area, ranging from the simple to the gastronomic, but if you prefer, you can sit in your lovely garden sipping a glass of wine and reading a book.

Romantic rustic 19th century gite, furnished to a high standard with many original features, uincluding timber beams and an original Perigordine pise floor. There is a large sitting room, with wood burning stove, a corner kitchen, dining area and French doors leading into the private garden. The kitchen has a cooker,fridge,microwave, and good quality equipment. A washing machine is available for use. The bedroom has a double bed with lots of wardrobe and drawer space, and an en-suite shower room with good quality towels (a single bed or cot is available for a small child). A hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and all linen are provided and we will be delighted to supply fresh linen on request. We have a selection of books and videos for your use. The garden has sunloungers, umbrellas, table and chairs and a barbecue.

Places of Interest

There are a vast number of medieval towns, chateaux and pre-historic sites to visit in the surrounding area, including Chateau D'Hautefort, the caves of Lascaux, Les Eyzies and Ruffignac. There are many day and night markets, music festivals and art and craft exhibitions to visit. A public swimming pool and tennis court are open in the Summer and just 5 minutes walk away in Ajat. There are also 2 lakes, with bars, for swimming and these are a 5 minute drive away. You can also walk, cycle (we have bikes) and canoe in the local area.
