Located within the brand new, exclusive residence, 'Le Domaine du Lac' situated within the beautiful private grounds of the St Thomas Golf and Country Club near Beziers. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling counryside yet only a short drive from a vast range of holiday activities which are available nearby. The surrounding countryside is awash with vineyards, the Languedoc is one of the largest wine-producing areas in France, so you can take advantage of the wonderful choice of visits and tasting opportunities on your doorstep. Appellations include St Chinian, Minervois and Faugueres and for those on a budget, good wine can be purchased direct from the producteur from as little as 1 euro per litre. Have fun finding your favourite The town of Béziers (8 miles from Villa Thomas) offers something for everybody. A huge tree lined boulevard hosts endless cafés and outdoor restaurants as well as a large street market on Fridays. There are many cultural events throughout the summer, including the spectacular 'Féria' when street markets, musicians and traditional concerts take over the whole town for four days in August. There is rich history to explore dating back to Greek and Roman times. Laterly money from the rich wine makers has shaped many of the fabulous architecture to be admired in the centre of the town. Beziers also has a good selection of hypermarkets on the outskirts of the town. This is an excellent place to stock up on essentials for your holiday. The ground floor living area of the villa is entirely open plan to take full advantage of the two sets of french windows which lead directly on to the covered terrace and the garden at the rear. A breakfast bar with high stools divides the kitchen from the dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with 4 ring hob, microwave, family sized fridge, dish washer etc. There is a large dining table and chairs sufficient for 8 people plus a spacious living room with settee and chairs adjacent to French windows. Outside is a second dining table and chairs plus bbq on the covered terrace for alfresco dining or just spending a relaxing time enjoying a glass or 2 from a range of the superb wines produced locally. The garden is fenced for the security of any younger visitors and is mainly grass. The sleeping accommodation is on 2 floors with a double and twin bedroom on each floor together with a bath or shower room and toilet. This configuration makes Villa Thomas completely flexible for 2 famillies travelling together; an extended family travelling with grandparents or grown up children; or groups of single people or couples holidaying together. The downstairs bedrooms are accessed via a door from the main living area. The double and twin bedrooms each have shuttered windows with blinds and ceiling fans. Electric heaters are available for the winter months. There is a family bathroom and separate wc adjacent to the 2 bedrooms. One double and one twin bedroom are situated on the first floor which is accessed from stairs in the main living area. Each has an ensuite shower room and wc. Villa Thomas is located just a 15 minute drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coastline. There is choice of resorts for all ages and tastes. From quiet out of the way beaches like Serignan Plage to the lively port of Cap d’Agde with its flotilla of yachts and boats to admire, magnificent ports, cafes and restaurants, nightclubs, casino, sports and watersports. Nearby is Sete, a historic port known as 'Little Venice' because of its canal network. It was originally an island and its roots can be traced back to Roman times. It is the start of the canal du Midi which runs from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic through the French coutryside terminating at Bordeau. For more modern seaside resorts visit Valras Plage or Portiragnes Plage. The water along this coast is shallow, clean and safe for young children and the sands shelve gently into the sea. Many beaches on this coast have been awarded the much covetted 'blue flag' for cleanliness. For lovers of fish and seafood a trip to the salt water lake “Bassin de Thau” is a must. Try Bouzigues, or Meze – small fishing ports where seafood is a speciality and sample one of many portside restaurants along the Bassin de Thau where you can also see the cultivation of one of the speciality products of this region, Oysters. One of our favourites is half a dozen oysters with a glass of chilled picpul white wine served as an inexpensive snack in a quayside restaurant! Half an hour away, you'll find yourself in another world among the stunning gorges and lakes of the Haute Languedoc national park. Superb walking, hiking and river rafting, or gentler watersports and swimming at Lake Salagou. Other major attractions include Carcassonne, Nîmes, the Cathar castles, the Camargue and Minervois. Spain and Barcelona for a daytrip (the border with Spain being only about 90minutes drive away) plus Andorra are all possible.
